In the USA passed tests of a hybrid of the truck and the helicopter

In the USA for needs of military department the Advanced Tactics company creates a transformer – a first-ever hybrid of the truck and the helicopter. In April the prototype made successful test flight, writes autotechnica.ru.

This month in the USA the Advanced Tactics company reported about successful carrying out the first test flight of a transformer of Black Knight. It is a first-ever hybrid of the vsedorozhny car and the aircraft of vertical take off and landing (VTOL – Vertical Take-Off and Landing).

Over transformer creation the company works since 2010, in December, 2013 the first trial runs of Black Knight were carried out.

The transformer allows to operate it both to the pilot from a cabin, and to operators far off. In Black Knight air rises at the expense of eight air screws which when using on the earth develop to the case for reduction of dimensions. Vnutreny volume of a transformer is close to the Blackhawk helicopter. In the future the hybrid will be used for evacuation of wounded from a battlefield and for delivery of equipment to a front line.

During the first flying tests of Black Knight rose by height about three meters and coped distantly. As notes the Popular Science magazine though before receipt on military service Black Knight still very far, flight and trial runs confirmed prototype work in full-size scale. Earlier, last year radio-controlled models were tested.
