Boundary Layer over a Flat Plate
In this special case, the inviscid flow solution is simply ui (x) = U and pi (x) = p™. The pressure gradient vanishes and there is no source term in the boundary layer equations. From the order of magnitude analysis one concludes that
The boundary layer has a parabolic growth. The constant C ~ 5.0. A self-similar solution has been found and calculated accurately by Blasius in 1908, see Ref. [3]. Other approximate solutions have been obtained with von Karman integral equation, see below.
